Cervical Cancer Awareness Month (January)
This January, we encourage you to learn more about cervical health and cervical cancer prevention and take steps to help eliminate this preventable cancer. WHO has a plan for the elimination of cervical cancer through vaccination and screening, to achieve cervical cancer elimination target by 2030.
Thanks to the HPV vaccine, the number of cervical cancer cases has gone down a lot in women who got vaccinated worldwide. Screening tests like the HPV test and Pap smear can also catch cervical cancer early or even prevent it. So, take steps to learn about cervical health and consider getting vaccinated and screened.
To spread the word and make a difference, learn more and teach others, get regular check-ups, and talk about getting vaccinated early to have a positive impact in your community and even beyond.
Tip – The HPV vaccine has been around in Myanmar since early 2000s. The launching of HPV vaccine in the National Immunization Program has only started in 2020. The available HPV vaccines in the market are Gardasil (quadrivalent 4vHPV), Cervarix (bivalent 2vHPV).
