World Leprosy Day is observed annually around the world on the last Sunday of January, falling on 28th January this year. Leprosy, also known as Hensen’s Disease, still occurs in more than 120 countries, with more than 200,000 new cases reported every year. It is currently treated worldwide by multidrug therapy (MDT), which consists of a combination of Rifampin, Clofazimine, and Dapsone. Although patients are considered “cured” after the completion of MDT, many experience complications associated with leprosy reactions are significant causes of permanent disability, and occasional relapse/reinfection.

WHO has a plan for the elimination of cervical cancer through vaccination and screening, to achieve cervical cancer elimination target by 2030. Thanks to the HPV vaccine, the number of cervical cancer cases has gone down a lot in women who got vaccinated worldwide. Screening tests like the HPV test and Pap smear can also catch cervical cancer early or even prevent it. So, take steps to learn about cervical health and consider getting vaccinated and screened.
